He came home from the hospital
This still young man in his early 50s
Took his pants off and tossed them over a chair
A short time later he was dead.
Those pants were not touched for a number of years
His wife feared that if they were ever removed she would lose the memory of him
One day someone came and tossed those old pants out
His wife had no memory they were ever there

This is actually loosely based on an episode from the TV show: Hoarders. The wife could not get rid of the pants. The show helped her to toss them out.

My mom’s mother’s entire second floor was full of granddaddy like that. Truly.

I’m sorry I made your morning tearful. It’s amazing how much significance are in a piece of object or clothing when they belong to a lost loved one.
