I’m looking forward to the wrens return
In April after the snow has bid its final farewell
Those feisty little things
Who keep me entertained
From Spring to nearly Autumn
They stage a party before they leave
A long line of them on a wire
That runs from my house to the barn
Extended family
Animated and noisy
Saying goodbye
Arrivederci
Until we meet again
Wrens are my first sign for a season of great and beautiful days ahead.

Absolutely. Sunshine, warmth and who knows what else awaits.

In Iowa, I was generally prepared. Here in Virginia, the Chesapeake is a fickle lass. We never know from day to day.

Ah, but days are longer in the summer. Darkness doesn’t descend until well after supper
